Purpose of Position

Performs engineering work requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Assistance is furnished on unusual problems. Work is reviewed for application of sound engineering judgment.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Entry level uses basic understanding of the field to perform job duties Works directly with more senior Teammates. Work is closely observed and reviewed.
  • Review simulator engineering specifications, malfunction documents, flight test requirements, flight test, and aircraft data.
  • Implements all standard flight simulation software and integrates the software with that of other engineering disciplines.
  • Direct flight testing for simulator validation and review gathered data.
  • Reduces and integrates flight test data into off-line simulation environment.
  • Design, develop, and/or implement/integrate complete flight program Math Model and source code as required by the simulator specification including both fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
  • Using the off-line simulation environment or the simulator, perform procedures to empirically refine a software design meeting all applicable objective and subjective criteria.
  • Determines flight test data to be used in and prepares the Qualification Test Guide, including developing and checking Qualification Test Guide (QTG) tests to assess the performance of the simulated aerodynamic, ground handling, flight controls, power plant models, and sound against flight test or other validation data.
  • Works with engineering colleagues, project engineers, and others to achieve a smoothly integrated system.
  • Presents the simulator performance and handling characteristics to the customer and corrects deficiencies identified by the customer. This may include working at customer facilities.
  • Exhibit and practice professional and courteous behavior while interacting with both internal and external customers.

  • Accountable for the control and distribution of documents and/or equipment subject to export control restrictions and the security of FSI materials, projects, and business information regarding the methods and techniques used in the production and usage of FSI products.
  • Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks.
  • Able to adhere to a work schedule including prompt and regular attendance
  • Support acceptance and qualification of the Flight Simulation Training Device, both in-plant and at the customer site.
  • Required Traveling out of office.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or other applicable technical field

Minimum Experience

  • Understand and use Aerodynamic Stability and Control Coefficients and Derivatives on projects
  • Familiar with software coding using one of the computer languages 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Microsoft Office
  • FORTRAN
  • Simulink and C++ and Linux(UNIX) desired

While performing the duties of the Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work is usually moderate.
