- Clinical Infusion and Research Registered Nurse (RN)
Classification FSLA - Non-Exempt/Hourly

Reports to: Clinical Infusion and Research Manager
Location: Riverview, MI. Willing to train at Farmington Hills and/or Roseville locations.
Summary/Objective Under supervision and according to established policies and procedures, registered nurses develop and implements plan of care for patients, communicates patient outcomes to healthcare team, completes assignments/tasks with appropriate follow-up, develops teaching strategies for patient/family, and maintains current knowledge in neurology.
Work Environment This job operates in a medical infusion center. This role routinely uses standard medical equipment, blood pressure monitors, temperature, recliners, office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Maintain HIPAA compliance regarding patient information, testing, prescriptions, medical information and documentation.
Compliant with using recycle bins for protecting any patient health information (i.e. using HIPAA approved Shred-IT bins).
Maintain work area free of ePHI to ensure HIPAA compliance.
Daily/Work Functions Performs assessment of patient. Interviews the patient concerning problems and symptoms, noting vital signs and medical history of patient.
Able to start and manage IV and subcutaneous therapies.
Assists providers as needed, always keeping lines of communication open.
Observes study protocols, follows institutional study compliance and maintains data flow for study coordinators.
Checking and/or creating order notes for billable services and then routing order to provider for co-signature.
Assists team with managing ketamine infusions.
Assists team with managing patients pre and post twilight sedation.
Unpackages perishable medications promptly, inventories medications, rotates stock and properly disposes of outdated products.
Checks inventory controls levels of medications and supplies and places orders to ensure adequate supplies. Helps team to order supplies and medications as needed.
Collaborates with providers in identifying psychosocial needs of patients and makes necessary contacts to establish outside resources for appropriate referral.
Demonstrates knowledge and ability of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures done by nursing personnel at MIND.
Administers medications (PO, IM, SQ, IV)
Performs EKGs
Confirm orders in EMR system
Document in EMR system
IV start skills
Phlebotomy: drawing, testing, spinning and separating lab samples (with use of centrifuge), Sending them out (packaging appropriately in specified containers)
Proper use of vital sign machines, IV pumps
Schedules follow up appointments, testing appointments, infusions, etc.
Maintains supplies and equipment
Performs headache treatments under specific orders from providers
Performs testing including pregnancy tests, dipsticks for infections, etc.
Educates patient/family in office regarding all disease modifying therapies and infusions
Educates patient/family about disease processes and utilizes appropriate resources
Performs assigned clerical duties which may include filing, typing and scanning.
Anticipate and provide comfort measures for patients throughout the day (i.e. provide blankets, water, snacks, position changes, transfer assistance, assistance to the restroom, etc.).
Assist with opening and closing duties per team directives.
Perform general office duties such as answering telephones, making copies, sending faxes and other office work.
Physical Demands May be expected to lift to 50 pounds or up to 150 pounds with assistance. May be expected to push or pull 150-300 pounds with assistance. Work is of medium demand; walking or standing most of the time while on duty. Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required. Optimal auditory acuity required. Manual dexterity involving the handling of equipment is essential to performing assigned duties. Physical conditions are clean, neat and well-lit.
May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions needed to be taken is essential. Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced and required by patient care and needs of the company. Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to the requirements of the daily schedule.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a part time position, x3 8-hour shifts each week, however it is subject to change. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Evening work may be required as job duties demand.
OSHA Exposure Classification: Job Category I. Direct contact with blood or other body fluids (Bloodborne Pathogens) to which Universal Precautions apply. Personal protective equipment is made available and must be worn.
Travel Travel may be required to additional infusion centers in satellite locations.
Required Education and Experience Related responsibilities, experience of 1 - 2 years as a Registered Nurse.
Bachelor's Degree recommended but not required.
BLS and ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
Registered Nurse Licensed by the State of Michigan.
Participates in all training and continuing education required by the center.
