The Seasonal Tax Preparer will provide income tax preparation services for designated Church employees from mid-January to mid-April. Flexible schedule; approximately 30-40 hours per week. Work location is the Church Office Building in downtown Salt Lake City. Potential for annual recurring seasonal position.

The primary responsibility is to prepare individual federal and state income tax returns for designated domestic and expatriate Church employees. Job duties also include review of source data and tax documents communication with the employee as needed preparation of tax projections and preparation of tax equalization analysis.

• Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Taxation (or a related field) or working towards an applicable accounting or finance degree. Must demonstrate a well-grounded knowledge of tax theory.
• A minimum of two years of accounting experience.
• Prior experience in tax return preparation specifically Form 1040 and related forms and schedules.
• Must possess the ability to manage multiple returns and complete tasks quickly within the constraints of timelines.
• Self-motivated and independent worker.
• Excellent interpersonal skills: incumbent will demonstrate courtesy tact and effectiveness in dealing with others in everyday working relationships including contacts with others to request or provide information.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Windows applications Microsoft Office (Word Excel and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Experience with tax preparation software is helpful but not required.
