Job Description

TurboTax Community Tax Preparer (Seasonal)
Costa Mesa
$31–$45/hour | Seasonal (on-site)

About The Role:

Think of this as your chance to be the go-to tax pro in your neighborhood — the person folks trust when tax season rolls around. As a TurboTax Community Tax Advisor, you’ll help people make sense of their money, unlock potential savings, and walk away feeling more confident about their finances. You’ll be part of a team that’s reimagining what taxes can feel like — less stressful, more empowering — all while driving prosperity in your local community.

You’ll work on-site from our brand new TurboTax retail store in New York, and occasionally meet customers virtually. It’s hands-on, human-first, and purpose-driven to support Intuit’s mission of “Powering Prosperity Around the World.”

What You Will Gain: We take care of the people who take care of our customers.

  • Financial Growth & Security.
  • 401(k) Plan with Generous Match: Build retirement savings immediately with an Intuit match of $1.25 for every $1 you contribute (up to 6% of eligible pay, max $10,000$ per year).
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP): Opportunity to purchase Intuit stock at a minimum 15% discount.
  • Health & Work-Life Balance.
  • Mental Health Support: Access up to 12 counseling and 12 coaching sessions per year at no cost for you and your household members.
  • Backup Care & Family Support: Valuable caregiver assistance through Bright Horizons, including backup child care.
  • Paid Sick Time: Receive sick time to recover from illness, accrued at one hour for every 30 hours worked.
  • Extra Perks.
  • Enjoy Intuit-exclusive discounts on a variety of products and services, including insurance for your auto, home, and pets.
  • Earn seasonal bonuses based on performance.

Note: This is a summary. Eligibility rules, plan maximums, and exclusions apply.

What You Will Do:

  • Be the face of TurboTax in your community. You’ll engage with locals, host events, and turn taxes into a conversation people actually want to have.
  • Provide expert tax guidance. Handle everything from simple filings to complex situations — helping customers optimize deductions, minimize liabilities, and plan for the future.
  • Build trust through empathy and expertise. Every return is personal, and you’ll meet people where they are — guiding them to better outcomes.
  • Create financial clarity. Use plain language, not jargon, to explain every step and empower customers to make informed choices.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must possess or be able to obtain any related State licenses, certificates, permits, or bonds.
  • An active Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN).
  • At least 3 years of experience filing 50+ individual federal and state 1040 returns per season.
  • A deep understanding of Circular 230 guidelines.
  • A genuine passion for helping others — whether that’s maximizing their refund or just helping them breathe easier come April.
  • A drive to grow your presence — both locally and online — as a trusted TurboTax advisor.
  • Comfort with technology and the curiosity to keep learning.
  • Willing and available to work a static weekly schedule with a minimum of 20 hours per week at a TurboTax location.

Nice To Have Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • You possess an active, unrestricted credential: EA, CPA, or Practicing Attorney with strong tax preparation experience and extensive knowledge of tax laws.
  • Experience in holistic tax advisory services beyond tax filing.

About TurboTax:

At TurboTax, we believe financial confidence should be accessible to everyone. We’re reimagining what taxes look like—with a team of experts who are smart, approachable, and powered by purpose.

Here, you’re not just preparing taxes—you’re powering prosperity.

Join us and show your community what confidence looks like in action.
